Awful Din Want You Out of Their Basement
Awful Din kick off their next era with “GTFO My Basement,” the explosive first single from their upcoming second album ANTI BODY. The track recounts one of the worst Christmases imaginable: a night that starts with drinks and friendly holiday vibes but implodes into a basement blowout so loud everyone worried the cops might show. It’s awkward, it’s honest, and it’s ridiculously catchy – capturing a volatile kind of relationship anyone who’s ever been young will recognize.
For the past decade, Awful Din have been infesting everywhere from Brooklyn basements to French-Canadian bars with their crunchy, emo-leaning melodic punk. Guitarists Kat and Aaron have been writing together since they were kids, bonded over bands like Saves The Day and Texas Is The Reason. The band officially formed in 2014 and quickly became fixtures of the New York DIY scene. With several EPs and their 2022 LP Only Constantly, Awful Din have carved out a sound that’s bittersweet, beer-soaked, introspective, and deceptively hopeful.
“GTFO My Basement” distills everything the band does best – punchy guitars, frantic rhythms, and emotional chaos delivered with a smirk. It also offers a glimpse of where ANTI BODY is heading: louder, sharper, and more unfiltered than ever.
