Texas Emo-Ska Revivalists Up Dog Are ‘Going Nowhere Fast’

Listen

Texas emo party-starters Up Dog return with their new EP, Going Nowhere Fast,  which is out now. Recorded with Steven Jolly at Fuzzy Tiger Studios and mastered by Jas Nowicki of Heavy Hound Recordings, the EP captures the growing pains of early adulthood with a mix of humor, heart, and unfiltered energy.

Across five tracks, Going Nowhere Fast dives into themes of drifting friendships, trying to hold on to connection, and finding purpose in a world that won’t slow down. It’s a record about being stuck in motion – nostalgic for the past, yet barreling toward an uncertain future.

Of Texas’s thriving DIY landscape, Up Dog stand out for their ability to turn existential dread into a party. Their sound blends driving power chords, groovy basslines, brassy flourishes, and the courage to throw some straight skank on it – imagine PUP and No Doubt in a sweaty house show circle pit.

Playful yet sincere, Going Nowhere Fast is a cathartic release for anyone still figuring it out – one shower beer, late-night drive, and singalong at a time.
