Central Texas emo band F!GURES have released their debut full-length album, The Earth Trembled Downward.
Loosely inspired by Allan Danzig’s 1963 short story “The Great Nebraska Sea,” in which a series of earthquakes causes a massive fault line rupture that floods the inland United States, the record draws from the story’s sense of catastrophe and unease to shape its overarching atmosphere and emotional landscape.
F!GURES began writing The Earth Trembled Downward in 2025, though some of its songs date back to the band’s formation in 2023. The album was recorded between sessions with Ethan Pszanowski at The Recording Conservatory of Austin and the band’s personal studios in New Braunfels and San Antonio.
Produced by F!GURES’ Ben Mitchell and mixed and mastered by Tyler Floyd, The Earth Trembled Downward moves between fast-paced, syncopated rhythms, spacious melodies, and dynamic shifts in intensity, pairing the band’s energetic take on emo with the tension and unease at the heart of the album’s concept.
