Puppy Pile – “Small Waves”
Puppy Pile just released their new single “Small Waves”.
Written during lockdown in 2020, “Small Waves” was inspired by a day at the beach where the waves never quite showed up. What started as a song about sitting around, staring at the water, and waiting for something to happen slowly became about something bigger: missed opportunities, uncertain futures, and the hope that the next wave might be the one that finally brings you back.
Or maybe it’s just about small waves.
The song became a staple of Puppy Pile’s live sets before the band went on hiatus in 2021, but was never properly recorded. When Puppy Pile returned in 2025, they finally gave “Small Waves” a permanent home, tracking drums in a friend’s New Jersey basement and recording the guitars and vocals themselves.
Equal parts nostalgic, restless, and hopeful, “Small Waves” captures Puppy Pile’s knack for finding something meaningful in the seemingly mundane. Stream the new single here.
