Up Dog – “In The Room”

Up Dog’s new single “In The Room” channels pure frustration into sound – a chaotic, ska-laced eruption aimed at performative philanthropy and class cosplay. The new single is out now and it’s the final track before their upcoming EP Going Nowhere Fast, due November 11.

Written in response to the hollow gestures of the ultra-wealthy, “In The Room” calls out those who romanticize struggle while refusing to engage in it. “They want proximity to hardship but not accountability for it,” the band explains.

That fury comes through in every note. Midwest emo guitar noodles crash into ska rhythms and circle-pit chaos, creating a whirlwind that’s as biting as it is cathartic. Lines like “Trust fund speaking louder than your conviction” and “Bread crumbs, bread crumbs, yummy yummy die” deliver the band’s signature mix of humor and rage.

“In The Room” captures Up Dog at their most unrestrained – loud, self-aware, and impossible to ignore. It’s the sound of a band raging against the system while laughing in its face.
