3AM – ‘“henna tattoo”

3AM just released a cover of "henna tattoo" by Field Medic – and it’s not your typical indie-folk remake

This version blends banjo with booming 808s, emo-folk lyricism with trap-inspired production, and Field Medic’s tender original with a modern, melancholic edge. It’s both nostalgic and experimental – a love letter to the song, reimagined through the lens of late-night heartbreak and sonic distortion.

“Field Medic was a huge influence on me,” says Hunter, vocalist and producer of 3AM. “I got my banjo around the same time I first heard Fade Into the Dawn. This song has stuck with me ever since. I wanted to make something that felt as vulnerable, but also hit you in the chest – with bass, distortion, and emotional saturation.” With influences ranging from Midwest emo and indie rock to SoundCloud-era rap, 3AM’s take on "henna tattoo" feels fresh but still honors the spirit of the original – honest, intimate, and a little bit broken in the best way.
