Cuni – “Famine”
Cuni has released their new single “Famine,” out now via We’re Trying Records. The track arrives alongside the launch of pre-orders for the band’s new EP, Harbinger, out October 23.
“Famine” captures Cuni at their best, pairing emo twinkle with chaotic, tightly controlled post-hardcore. Named after the third horseman of the apocalypse, the song imagines the last will and testament of an Earth that can no longer sustain its people—a polluted home crumbling under the pressures of consumption and climate change.
Harbinger builds on the sound of Cuni’s debut LP, Prescribed Burn, pushing further into post-hardcore, emo, screamo, shoegaze, and metal. Across the EP, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse become allegories for modern societal ills, touching on colonialism, genocide, climate change, and mortality.
Produced, engineered, and mixed by Ryland Heagy of Origami Angel and mastered by Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight, Superheaven), Harbinger gives Cuni’s chaotic DIY foundation greater weight and clarity without sanding down its edges.
