Portland emo band Swiss Army Wife have returnedwith their sophomore album, I Love You, But I Hate It Here.

Following 2023's Medium Gnarly – a debut that earned comparisons to You Blew It! and Free Throw, along with praise from Anthony Fantano – the band delivers a record that is heavier, more urgent, and emotionally expansive.

Across the album, ferocious riffs and cathartic vocals confront abortion bans, overdose, gender dysphoria, climate grief, medical debt, and the slow collapse of rural communities. Yet at its heart, I Love You, But I Hate It Here remains deeply personal: a record about loving a hometown, a body, and a community in active decay.

Written from the perspective of a band growing up in an increasingly uncertain world, the album balances frustration and heartbreak with a stubborn belief that there is still something worth holding onto.
