Career Day – “Missed Alarms”

Queens/Philadelphia emo-punk band Career Day have returned with their new single, “Missed Alarms" – which is out now.

Self-described as “emo-punk for the end times,” Career Day continue to turn the anxieties of modern life into urgent, anthemic songwriting. “Missed Alarms” confronts the ease of falling into cycles of despair and self-pity while the routines of everyday life carry on against an increasingly frightening political backdrop.

The song was written after vocalist Desmond Zantua arrived for a 6 a.m. supermarket shift amid reports of ICE raids sweeping Queens, unsure whether his coworkers would be there when he arrived. From that moment, “Missed Alarms” traces a path from self-pity to self-interrogation and, ultimately, action.

Whether through rallies, community defense, mutual aid, or simply refusing to become numb, the track is a reminder that individual acts of resistance still carry weight. With “Missed Alarms,” Career Day channel fear and frustration into momentum, finding agency in the decision to keep showing up and fighting for something better.
